Inner West Council has made a commitment to support live music. Inner West Council recognises the complexities in understanding planning regulations and the development application process can often inhibit growth in the industry. The Live Music Planning Liaison Service is a hands on, face to face service for live music venues to provide advice and way finding through the planning and development process.  This pilot service provides a professional planning expert to give early guidance on understanding planning controls and how to lodge an application to establish or expand Inner West live music venues within the current regulatory environment.

What will the Live Music Planning Advisory Service do?

• Assist with understanding the implications of planning laws and controls and advising how to navigate the different assessment pathways. The Liaison Officer will not assess the application nor undertake the writing of material.
• Guide Applicants to Council’s existing pre development application (DA) advisory service and provide advice on the type of information needed at the pre DA meeting.
• Explain conditions relating to development or complying development and what is required to comply with them.
• Assure confidentiality of commercially sensitive ideas.
• This service will be free however the related costs of permits, applications or reports or studies will be borne by the applicant.
• The service does not involve business location, site selection or business viability advice.
